MANUU in race for “Jal Shakti” award Central Team visits campus

Hyderabad:

A high level team from Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI, New Delhi visited Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today for ‘ground truthing’ of MANUU’s application for 4th National Water Awards under the category best Institution for Campus Usage. MANUU has applied for this prestigious award.

The team comprising of Mr. D. Ranga Reddy, Chief Engineer, KGBO, CWC, Hyderabad, Mr. Srinivasu Bairy, Superintending Engineer, CWC, Hyderabad, Smt. Caroline Louis, Scientist - C, Central Ground Water Board, Hyderabad and Mr MVK Suresh, PA, CWC, Hyderabad visited various water sources like ponds, water harvesting pits, bore wells etc.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, School of Sciences & Chairman, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, MANUU welcomed the guests. He briefed about various steps taken by the University to conserve & preserve this precious gift of nature. He gave a power point presentation detailing various water resources available at MANUU Campus and also shed light on the purifier system and best practices being implemented to conserve water. He also gave satisfactory answers to the questions of the visiting team.

Prof Ishtiyaq Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the visit by the expert committee.

Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Convenor, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, MANUU gave an overview of indoor and outdoor activities undertaken by the NSS, NCC units in connection with conservation and use of water. He also proposed vote of thanks.

The Jal Shakti team appreciated the steps taken by the University for conserving water. The members of MANUU Jal Shakti Abhiyan Committee and other officials were also present.

 

Three MANUU films selected for International Fests

Hyderabad:

Three films produced by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Instructional Media Centre (IMC)  have been selected for two prestigious film festivals.

According to Mr. Rizwan Ahamd, Director, IMC, the short film “ARISTOTLE” has been selected for Lift-Off Global Network an International Film Festival by Pinewood Film Studio, Iver, Buckinghamshire and two other documentary films Energy from Waste & “Transforming India” have been selected for the screening in the 14th Prakirti International Documentary Film Festival by Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC,UGC) Ministry of Education, GoI. Both the documentaries will be screened during the award-cum-screening ceremony of the festival at Madurai Kamraj University scheduled to be held during March 2023

"Aristotle" is a short biographical film by Md Aamir Badr, Producer of the Media Centre on the life of great Greek Philosopher Aristotle originally produced in the Urdu Language under the MANUU knowledge series. Prior to this selection, "Aristotle" has been appreciated widely at many film festivals and this is its fifth selection whereas “Transforming India” directed by Obaidulla Raihan, Cameraperson IMC, has also travelled to many festivals and “Energy from Waste” is an award winning documentary directed by M Mohammad Ghouse, Production Assistant of the Centre.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, congratulated IMC team and said that our focus is to take the academic content at international level and the centre has made significant efforts in supporting this endeavour.

Mr. Rizwan Ahamd said that regular selection and recognition of IMC films at various National and International platforms is a matter of great satisfaction and encouragement.
