National Seminar on Exegesis of Quran at MANUU

Hyderabad:

The Department of Arabic, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with International Research Institute for Tafsir Al-Qur’an (IRITAQ), Kerala is organizing a National Seminar on “Exegesis of Qur’an from Indian Subcontinent with Reference to Arabic Works” on February 23, 20223.

According to Prof. Syed Alim Ashraf Jaisi, Head, Department & Seminar Director, the inaugural session will be presided over by Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar at 10:00 am, CPDUMT auditorium, MANUU campus. The IRITAQ officials -Janab Syed Munavvar Ali Shihab, Rector, Dr. Sayyid Mousa Al Kazimi, Secretary General, & Prof. N.A.M. Abdul Kader, Dept. Chairman are the guests of honour. Prof. Syed Rashid Naseem Nadwi, Head, Department of Arabic, EFLU, Hyderabad will deliver keynote address.

The welcome address will be delivered by Prof. Alim Ashraf Jaisi. Dr. Mohd Abdul Aleem, is the convener of the seminar.

Lecture on Girl’s Madrasa by Hem Borkerheld at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Department of Sociology in collaboration with Research Committee on Minorities, Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi, organized an invited lecture by Dr. Hem Borker, Jamia Millia Islamia on 'Inside a Girl's Madrasa: Everyday Negotiations and Aspirations' on February 20, 2023.

In her lecture Dr. Borker, who completed her Phd from Oxford University, focused on the contributions made by Madrasa to develop the community and fulfill the aspirations of families and individuals. Ethics, Religious duty, and providing a high standard of moral preaching to live a dignified life are some of the best practices of the Madarsas, she observed. She also gave examples of Girls' Madarsas from various states.

Through her lecture, Dr. Borker gave a lot of insights specially for the researcher from other faiths on how to take up the research of Madarsas.

Prof. P H Mohammad, Head, Department chaired the lecture. Dr K. M. Ziyauddin, Assistant Professor & programme Coordinator presented concluding remarks and Mubasheruddin Faruqui proposed vote of thanks.

MANUU celebrates Mother Language Day

Hyderabad:

The Hindi Cell of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organized an online Hindi Workshop on the occasion of International Mother Language Day yesterday.

The invited speaker, Prof. Karan Singh Utwal, Department of Hindi, MANUU while addressing said everyone should give importance to the mother tongue which identifies the culture of our country. The national language plays an important role in the Unity of any country, he added.

Dr. Shagufta Parveen, Hindi Officer, MANUU said that mother tongue is instrumental in the development and prosperity of any country.

Dr. Seema Verma, faculty, Hindi Teaching Scheme also addressed and extended best wishes on Mother Language Day.

The faculty and non-teaching employees of the university participated in the workshop.
