International Science Conference held at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Millets like Jowar, Bajra, Ragi and others are rich in minerals and Protein. They have anticancerous, Anitioxidant and antidiabetic properties, said Dr. Ratnavathi, Director Incharge, Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR-ICAR) Hyderabad yesterday at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). She was speaking as the chief guest in the inaugural session of  two days International Conference “Sustainable Development through Science and Technology" organized by School of Sciences (SoS), MANUU. Prof Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, MANUU presided over.

In her presentation, Dr. Ratnavathi explained about the importance of this forgotten cereal.  She also highlighted the Government plans on Millets production and its export to other countries. 

Talking about science and its sustainable development, Prof Ainul Hasan in his address highlighted the usage of Science and Technology for the reconciliation of the Society and it’s development. MANUU should strengthen the science stream by introducing more and more Science related programs and the school of sciences will soon be starting Masters Programmes in Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Lab Technology and in other disciplines, he informed.

About 140 Scholars from Russia, Malaysia, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Spain etc. Participated online in the conference. 

Prof. Salman A. Khan, Dean, SoS, delivered the welcome address. The conference convenors - Prof H. Aleem Basha briefed about conference whereas Prof S. Maqbool Ahmed proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Ira Khan, Assistant Professor (Botany) convened the inaugural session.

On the occasion of National Science Day today an invited lecture “Future of Science, Technology and Innovation: Impacts on education, Skills and Work” by Prof. Anil Kumar Chaudhary from Central University of Hyderabad was also held. Prof Shakeel Ahmed delivered presidential address.

Five technical sessions were held during the conference. Dr. Shakarchur Mukharjee, M.S University of Baroda, Dr. Yunus Wani, Jeddah University, Dr. Saurabh K Varma, CSIR-NGRI, Dr. Subhash Kaul, KIMS, Hyderabad, Dr. Vishnu D. Rajput, Southern Fedral University, Russia, Prof. Sirajuddin, KSA and Prof. Pradeep Kumar, CS&IT, MANUU chaired the technical sessions.

Prof. Shugufta Shaheen, OSD1, MANUU was the chief guest in the valedictory session held today. Certificate were also distributed to the participants.
