Nowruz promotes Universal Unity - Dr. Syed Taqi Abedi

 

 Hyderabad:

Nowruz festival, being celebrated since three thousand years, promotes universal brotherhood, unity, Integrity and solidarity. The cultural significance of the festival cannot be ignored. In the subcontinent, the Deccan region boasts the distinction in writing maximum number of couplets on Nowruz, said Dr. Syed Taqi Abedi, renowned Urdu and Persian scholar from Canada while delivering extension lecture at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) on  March 21, 2023.  The  lecture "Tradition and Importance of Jashn-e-Nowruz in the Context of Subcontinent" was organized by Department of Persian & Central Asian Studies (DP&CAS). Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-chancellor presided over.

 

Dr. Taqi Abedi also quoted the poetry written by Quli Qutb Shah, Abdullah Qutb Shah and Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur celebrating Nowruz. He advised students to study Persian manuscripts if they want to know civilization and culture.

 

Mr. Ali Akbar Niroomand, Regional Director for South Indian States, Noor International Microfilm Centre (NIMC), New Delhi and Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU were the guests of honour.

 

Prof. Aziz Bano, Dean, School of Language, Linguistics and Indology (SLL&I) delivered welcome address. Dr. Syeda Asmath Jahan, Head, DP&CAS, welcomed the guests. Dr. Qaiser Ahmed, Associate Professor convened the programme. The Assistant Professors - Dr. Md. Rizwan introduced the guest speaker and Dr. Janaid Ahmed proposed vote of thanks.

 

 

Traditional “Haftsin” table arranged at MANUU

 

 Hyderabad:

The Department of Persian & Central Asian Studies (DP&CAS), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) arranged the traditional "Sofre Haftsin" table to mark International Nowruz Day on March 21, 2023. Its an arrangement of seven items that begin with the letter S (seen) in Persian like Sabzeh (wheatgrass), Samanu (sweet pudding), Serkeh (Vinegar), etc. Each item carries symbolic meaning for the new year. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU and Mrs. Arshia Hasan (wife of Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan)  inaugurated the table. Dr. Syed Taqi Abedi, renowned Urdu and Persian scholar, Canada, Mr. Ali Akbar Niroomand, Regional Director for South Indian States, Noor International Microfilm Centre (NIMC), New Delhi Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU large number of teachers, scholars & students attended.
