Profile of Salma Ahmed Farooqui

Salma Ahmed Farooqui is a reputed historian of the country and Professor at the H.K.Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. She is also the Dean Research and Consultancy at the university. She has completed her M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D from the University of Hyderabad. Her inclination for research has led to several publications which include eight books and several research papers in medieval Indian history and history of the Deccan. She has presented papers at national and international conferences which include University of Cambridge; University of California, Santa Barbara; New York University’s campus in Florence; University of Hawaii; Sarajevo, Istanbul, Berlin, Tbilisi and Hamburg. She is recipient of the Fulbright-Nehru fellowship award in 2013 and in 2010 at the Department of Religious Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara. She is working on two Fulbright projects. She is also the Director of the India office of the Association for the Study of Persianate Societies.
